Happy New Year Happy Hangout Friends!

We’re gearing up for our Winter class session and we’re excited to tell you about some new class offerings and how we’re changing things up a little this time around.

First up, we have our new “Literacy Tots” class. This class is specifically designed for children ages 2-3 AND caregivers. This class will focus on beginning literacy skills, with an emphasis on teaching letters and sounds with interactive hands-on, child-led activities. Melissa Mauger is a new addition to our Happy Hangout team and will be leading this class. Melissa is a preschool teacher who has spent the last few years home raising her three children. She says “learning is a process of discovery, and my passion is creating experiences for children that incorporate literacy and language skills rather than directly teaching the letters to the child one by one.” Literacy Tots will be on Thursday mornings from 10:00-10:30am, February 3 - 24, 2022.

Next, we have another new literacy class for our Pre-K and early elementary friends (ages 4-6.) Our Comprehension Kids class will focus on building reading comprehension skills through retelling activities. We’ll explore plot, setting, characterization, and build students’ vocabulary with a new book focus each week. Comprehension Kids will be on Tuesday evenings from 6pm-6:45pm, February 1 - 22, 2022.

Back by popular demand, we are returning with our Preschool STEM class! This session we will explore challenges centered around a Winter theme as we incorporate the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math. Preschool STEM Class will take place on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 6:45pm, February 3 - 24, 2022.

For this Winter session, our evening classes will be taking place when our facility is closed to the public. Tickets for these classes will include 30 minutes of play time following class. Any siblings that wish to attend and play during class time will need to purchase an accompanying sibling play pass (listed under Classes.) *Note that sibling play tickets apply to those without a membership. All classes run weekly for 4 weeks. When you sign up for a session, you’re signing up for all four weeks. We understand life happens sometimes, but please do your best to be on time and attend weekly. If you’re unable to attend a class, please notify Happy Hangout or the class instructor as soon as possible. Each class is $40 for the session for non-members, $20 for members.

An Important Note: While we strongly encourage masks in the play facility, we will be REQUIRING masks for all adults and strongly encouraging them for children who are able to wear them due to high transmission of COVID-19 in the area and inability to properly distance in the classroom.
